Sanyo Epson Head Offices Gain ISO14001 Certification
TOKYO, April 12, 2005 -- Sanyo Epson Imaging Devices Corporation ("Sanyo Epson") announced today that its Matsumoto Head Office and Tokyo Head Office have obtained ISO14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems, from Bureau Veritas Quality International.

At the start of operations on October 1, 2004, Sanyo Epson established its own environmental policy in line with the Epson Group's Environmental Philosophy and has further accelerated the environmental efforts pursued by Epson. and Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. As part of this program, Sanyo Epson has also sought to obtain and maintain its own ISO14001 certification.

Sanyo Epson was established through the merger of Epson's Displays Operations Division and Sanyo Electric's display operations.

The certification process consisted of periodic ISO14001 inspections of the former Epson Displays Operations Division (now Sanyo Epson's Matsumoto Head Office), which was first certified in November 1997, and an inspection of the newly founded Tokyo Head Office. Sanyo Epson's Tottori and Gifu Plants had already achieved ISO14001 certification when they were operated by Sanyo Electric, and the two plants are continuing their long-standing environmental efforts.

Building on these achievements, Sanyo Epson intends to undertake activities aimed at obtaining ISO14001 for all its plants and other operations during fiscal 2005. Moreover, by involving every Sanyo Epson employee in these efforts, it will encourage even greater environmental awareness throughout the company.

Please see the attached materials for an overview of Sanyo Epson's Environmental Policy and the ISO14001 international standards.
