Foundation of Daiwa Kogyo Ltd., forerunner of Seiko Epson
Hisao Yamazaki founded Daiwa Kogyo in 1942. Prior to that, Yamazaki had worked for K. Hattori (now Seiko Corporation), founded in 1881, which established Seikosha Co., Ltd. in 1892 and Daini Seikosha Co., Ltd. in 1937 to manufacture clocks and watches.

QC-951 Participation of the Seiko Group in the Tokyo Olympic Games as an official supplier of timekeeping equipment
The Seiko Crystal Chronometer QC-951, a small tabletop quartz clock, and the printing timer, served as the official timekeeping instruments.

Establishment of Tottori Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.
In compliance with a request from Tottori City, Tottori Sanyo Electric was set up as an independent corporate entity on the former site of Tottori University.
1968
Commercial launch of EP-101, the world's first miniprinter
The EP-101, the world's first compact, lightweight digital printer, which became the roots of the brand name, "Epson", was commericialized. It was revolutionary for its palm-fitting size, outstanding durability, and remarkable low power consumption (1/20th that of printers available until that time.) The EP-101, adopted in a broad range of applications, became a huge commercial success worldwide.
